A COMBINATION OF THE MARCH HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB OFFICER’S AND MEMBERSHIP BUSINESS MEETING WAS HELD ON MARCH 29, 2014

A COMBINATION OF THE MARCH HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB OFFICER’S AND MEMBERSHIP BUSINESS MEETING WAS HELD ON MARCH 29, 2014  - The weather for this date was on the back end of 30 hour general rain session along with a strong southern breeze.  Therefore, the officers met at 7:30 at the Golden Coral for their part of the meeting session then, went over to the flying field to make sure that if any of the other members showed up that we met with them.  None did by 10:30.
Attending were: President ~ Ron Hargrove , Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Secretary ~ J.R. Murphy, Treasurer ~ Joe Ryan,  Safety Officer ~ Larry Przyborowski,  and Activities Host ~ Julian Pugh.

Agenda items for this meeting included:
1)  Ron called the meeting to order and announced that Vic had delivered the additional mower to the field and had provided a Bill-of-Sale for the mower, grass catcher, spreader/aerator and trailer for a sale price of $1,800.  We now have three mowers in good shape and ready for the 2014 grass cutting session.  We also have a donated string-trimmer and are looking for a small portable blower.
2)  The 2014 membership now stands at 88 members and this is considered to be a good level for the present time.  We feel that when the weather begins to provide better flying weather that we will sign up additional members.
3)  Julian reminded us that the “Warbirds Over McDonough” fly-in is scheduled for April 26 with a rain date of May 3.  It was agreed to provide three  $25.00 Hobby Shop Gift Card prizes, one for each of the:  1)  Best scale war-bird flight, 2)  Best Static war-bird, and 3)  Best ducted fan jet war-bird flight.  There will be a $10.00 pilots landing fee which will include lunch.  For others, lunch will be $5.00.  Ron will provide a flier for this activity.
4)  There are some limited work day type activities needed and it was recommended that the club check and see if the Geezers can accomplish the needed work items.  A suggested date ofApril 22 will be considered.  Items needing attention include power washing the shelter floors and spreading the remaining sand in the lowest areas of the infield and grass runway.
5)  Ron said he would once again be attempting to set up a meeting with Parks and Recreation’sJim Joyce to discuss these items:  1)  Erection of a 4 X 4 foot sign just inside the field access gate, 2)  Some first aid for the access road, and 3)  The P & R Departments long term plans for the HCRCC.
6)  Murphy presented the current budget control sheet with year-to-date income/expense items listed.  However, actual monthly financial  numbers will not be available until the current month’s bank statement is received on approximately the 6th of each month.  Then, the actual month’s financial numbers will be available to officers at the flying field.
7)  Ron pointed out that our “Game Day Pattern Control Effort” has appeared to be working well and he urged us to continue to keep the pressure on to perform well away from the base ball diamond activities.
8)  It was agreed to plan a Club Fun Fly and Swap Meet for May 17 with a rain date of May 24.  We would plan for a family type activity with “Free Ice Cream” for all and a scheduled Air Show on the program.  Everyone agreed that this would be a good idea and fun activity for the club membership.  More information to come.
9)  It was agreed to give attention to providing an up-to-date field layout picture with approved flying patterns pointed out to be posted under glass at the field.  This would then be used in the new member briefing and as a tool to use with all the  membership.  We agreed to look at procuring a good quality aerial picture and/or a Google generated picture.
   Happy Landings......   JRM, Club Secretary
