Bugs, Baseball, and Boundaries.
Can it really be true? Has spring finally
arrived? We can only keep our fingers crossed, and hope that the worst of the
cold weather is really behind us. Already the Bradford Pear trees, and Dogwoods
have begun their bloom. Soon we will enter pollen season. Pollen season often
causes many people problems. If you are taking medication for any reason, be
aware that some medications may affect your flying skills. It's up to you to
make sure you are operating your aircraft safely.
As a small reminder I'd like to mention
that tornadoes can happen in Georgia in any season. The peak season for our
area is March thru May. So be alert if any large storms approach your area.
I've also noticed that as soon as 70
degrees was reached, out came the bugs. If you are flying RC they sometimes can
be a real distraction. One tip I heard of that helps to keep them away, is to
use scented dryer sheets. That's right, the kind you add to your laundry.
One professional demo pilot I
talked to, said that when bugs are really bad, He puts 1 sheet in each pocket,
and 1 or 2 under his hat!!! Seems to really work.
Along with spring time comes baseball
season. As most of you are aware, the Henry County baseball fields are
scheduled to be in full operation every weekend, from now until the end of
summer. As you enter our field, you will know if a game is in progress. That
means we must all pay special attention to our flight operations. Some changes
have already been made. More may take place in the future, if we see the need.
One change that has been made is to close
the two most southern flight stations during ball game days. New signs have
been added, and cones will also be placed, to remind everyone of this change.
Please shift to the north.
Another change is our southern border. The entrance gate fence line is our southern
border. Please do your best to not to fly past that border. We may have
observers stationed at the fence line from time to time. You might be asked to
alter your flying if we see you passing
the line. It's something we all must do. Please don't be offended.
If we all just follow some simple rules, we
can keep HCRCC a great club. I wish everyone a great flying season. Hope to see
you, and your latest airplanes at the field.
Respectfully Larry Przyborowski
