All,
My only comment on Item #3.
You should not fly alone!
In the event of an injury, you may not be able to call 911!
Always take/meet a flying buddy with you to the field, but never fly alone. I speak from past experience.
One day may years ago (may have been at the old Conley field off Mount Carmel Road), I arrived at the flying field just in time to experience an accident. Someone was starting a large 4 stroke engine and got his finger/hand cought in the prop. The bleeding was bad. The induvidual had the presence of mind to use his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. We got into my truck, he was bleeding too badly to drive, and I drove him to the emergency room where several stitches were applied to a main artery in his hand.
He was alone when I got to the field, and had I not been there, a bad situtation could have been worse.
If I get to the field and nobody is there, I do not even start a engine untill someone shows up, and I do this based on the experience above.
We may want to post the location of the nearest hospital/emergency room, even though the fire station is around the corner.
Thanks for my short time on the soap box.
Remember, SAFETY FIRST!
