HCRCC REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING – NOVEMBER 21, 2015

HCRCC REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING – NOVEMBER 21, 2015
The regular November Business Meeting was held at the HCRCC Flying Field at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov 21, 2015 with the following in attendance:  Pres. - Ron Hargrove, VP - Dave Mitchell, Sec. - Jim Murphy, Treas. - Joe Ryan, Safety Officer - Larry Przyborowski, Julian Pugh along with members – Victor Echevarria, Richard Rousseau, Ed Moore, Joe Brett, Bill Patterson, Jim Brooks, Don Whalen, Earl Alliston.
Ron opened with a discussion of the Election of Officers subject and reviewed the fact that the club has not received any nominations for members other than those listed on the present ballot and reminded us all that today is the official election day.  Those who had not received a ballot prior to today were given a blank ballot form and marked their ballot at that time.  The results were that the members listed on the official ballot were all elected and, Lord willing, will serve the club members during the new year.  They are:
President – Ron Hargrove, Vice President – Jim Brooks, Secretary – Jim Murphy, Treasurer – Joe Ryan, Field Manager – Dave Mitchell, Safety Officer – Larry Przyborowski.  Julian Pugh will continue to serve as Official Club Host and assist the president with the club calendar.
Ron discussed the fact that the cost for field grass development and care will increase in the new year as we extend the grass development areas to include the infield and areas north and south of the infield.  Therefore, we need member cooperation in promptly renewing their membership in an effort to allow accurate budget preparation for 2016.  Rates for existing members who renew for the 2016 year will remain at $75.00 as long as they renew by January 31.  If they renew after February 1, the rate will be $85.00.  However, please remember that those who renew after January 1 will not be allowed to fly until such time as they renew their club membership and provide a 2016 AMA membership card.   He mentioned that while the 2016 membership rates remain the same, we may need an increase for 2017.
The Christmas Party was mentioned and attendees were encouraged to attend.  Ron said that this club activity is the high point in the social activities of the club and everyone who attends has a great time.
Ron mentioned that the Henry County folks paid a visit to the flying field and examined the paved runway along with the contractor who did the over coating job last year.  They said that the very best thing we could do was to provide maximum development efforts on the grass on the west side of the paved runway.  He said he was pleased to see that we were obviously being successful in that effort.  While he was here we requested any help he might be able to give in providing some maintenance attention to our access road.  He said this was not in his area of expertise but that he would submit a work order and call the folks who do work in that area.  We were pleased to see that the County did so this week.  We will look at the option of some further work with our drag to smooth out some of the remaining low spots.
Ron commented that the Club’s Face Book activity continues to grow and is providing significant exposure for club activities.
Ron mentioned the fact that the 2016 AMA registration for the Club can now be paid at a reduced rate so he authorized Joe Ryan to proceed with this registration and payment.
Safety Officer Larry Przyborowski closed out the meeting with a reminder that success for a flying club like ours is often determined by the proper execution of many little things by each member.   This action allows the club to function smoothly – day in – day out.  And, in the end, it is each member’s responsibility to perform as an extension of the Safety Officer thereby making our club a safe and pleasant place to be and fly.
 James R. Murphy, Club secretary
