HCRCC December 2015 Safety Letter

HCRCC December 2015 Safety Letter

Ho Ho Ho, and Happy Holiday Season to all HCRC Club members! That just doesn't sound right, does it? Well, whatever you like to call this time of the year, let's all begin by wishing each other the safest of Holidays.

A few reminders, to bring to your attention:
Our number 1 problem is and will always be - finger and hand injuries. As long as props continue to power our airplanes, there will always be the potential for an accident. Don't become a statistic. Treat every prop, as live! Regardless of whether you are using gas, nitro, or electric, the rules always apply equally. Treat every prop as a LIVE prop.
And, don't get me started on Quads/Helicopters because as fun, and as popular as these new “toys” have become, I've seen too many pictures of people getting “Scalped” or seriously injured lately. The reason why props are called blades, is because they cut. Trust me, I know from experience, they do.

And, please, please, please, every time you come to the field, remember the “Big Three”. 1) Sign In. 2) Put your AMA card on the board and take a pin. 3)Make certain the fire extinguisher is out of the safety box. When you get the fire bottle out, you have also unlocked the first aid supplies. We need 100% compliance on these three items.

Starting in 2016, our clubs safety program is looking for extra weekend helpers. We are asking for 3 or 4 experienced club members who regularly fly on the weekends to help out.  This job will be to simply keep an eye on what is happening at the field. To remind members to sign in, to make sure everyone is following the safety rules of the field, and to help newer members stay within the flying field regulations and feel at home. Members willing to help out should contact Ron Hargrove.

The Henry County RC field is being operated as a daylight only RC field. The only time night flying is permitted is when there is a sanctioned night flying event. Normal flying times are 8:00 a.m. til dusk. And to be good neighbors, we ask that extra loud aircraft not fly until at least 8:30 a.m.

Our Facebook page is gathering steam all time. Feel free to join in and add some pictures, of your favorite RC airplanes. We also post club news on the page from time to time. In closing as Safety Officer for 2015, I would like to give a great big “Thank You” to each and every club member who has worked hard to keep us all safe this year! It is a big job! Looking forward to a safe 2016!

Sincerely ~ Larry P.
