MARCH HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB MEMBERSHIP BUSINESS MEETING WAS HELD ON MARCH 28, 2015

  - The weather for this date was breezy and cool so only die-hard folks brought planes to the meeting.   Attending were: President ~ Ron Hargrove , Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Secretary ~ J.R. Murphy, Treasurer ~ Joe Ryan,  Safety Officer ~ Larry Przyborowski, WebMaster - Andy Ripple, Rick Tilleman, James Jones, Jim Brooks, Joe Brett, Bill Patterson and Marc Forman.  We welcome back Joe Ryan who has been in Texas during his training transition to SouthWest Airlines Boeing 737s and Mark Forman who has been inactive during a personal construction project.
Agenda items for this meeting included:
1)  Ron called the meeting to order and gave attendees a brief summary of the club’s status and plans for the immediate future.  This included the present grounds maintenance program which will this year for the first time be a do-it-yourself project of the Geezers.  The field was fresh mowed and beginning to green so looked very good.  Following an application of commercial lime and a weed control agent we are now ready for the initial application of a combination of fertilizer and weed control agent.
2)  Ron reminded attendees that it is the little things each of us do that helps the club operate smoothly:  such as signing in on the sign-in log each time we arrive at the field, putting our AMA card in the proper pin-box slot when selecting the correct pin for display on our person while in the pilot’s flight stations, making sure the fire bottle is ready for quick use in case of an emergency, and careful observance of the southern boundary during flight operations.
3)  Murphy made a general presentation of the financial reports maintained by the club and that the monthly reports are available to all members upon request at any time.
4)  Dave gave a brief presentation of the sample hats being made available for purchase by members and it was agreed to present the “better” hat option to members who have purchased a hat in the initial hat/shirt sales process.
5)  Safety Officer - Larry gave some safety reminders to attendees reminding them that quad-copters should adhere to the same flight operations regulations as other club flying operations and not be flown in the shelters.  He reminded us all that the safe system is to only start engines in one of the engine start positions and that start-up and taxi should never be performed from the shelter areas.
6)  Dave explained that he is now managing the club’s email system and any changes or questions about the club’s email operations should be addressed to him.
7)  Ron pointed out that Base Ball Season has arrived for 2015 and that all members should “fly accordingly on days wherein baseball game activities are observed on the Red Hawk ball fields.  He noted that our “Game Day Pattern Control Effort” has appeared to be working well and he urged us to continue to keep the pressure on to perform well away from the base ball diamond activities.
8)  It was explained that the club is currently becoming quite active in the FACE-BOOK area with a club face book operation of its own.  Most attendees were aware of the increased face book activity but did not know the reason for it.  Most attendees were appreciative of the increased activity and enjoying the current pictures of things happening at the flield.
9)  A brief summary of the upcoming Ward-Bird Over McDonough” flyin was given with the following information given:   Rick Tilleman will serve as CD for the event and will manage the flight operations of the day.   Activities for the day will include:
 A)   Three main $50.00 prizes will be offered this year for:
  1) Best Static Prop Driven War-Bird - Must fly at least once that day,
  2) Best scale flight demonstration of a prop driven war-bird - Must fly at least once, and
  3) Best static and flight of an EDF war bird.
B)   Four $25.00 pilot’s door prize type awards will be made from drawings held at the awards     presentation at the end of the meet and the winner must be present to receive the prize.
 C)   The meet will also include a raffle this year.  The raffle prize will be similar to a $225.00     engine from the Hobby Shop.
A $15.00 landing fee will be charged for all pilots entering the meet who are eligible to win a prize.  This fee will include their lunch.    Friday - 4/24 will be used primarily for registration and allowing visiting pilots to become familiar with the field regulations and perform some familiarization flights.  It was noted that the PA system will be used and Vic Echevarria has indicated that he will try to do the Mic work.  The following weekend will be used for a rain date.
It is our intention to work out a formal manpower schedule for the “Southern Flight Boundary” during flight operations and try to properly man a one hour duty schedule during all flying operations in an effort to both manage the southern limits and prove to anyone examining the club’s operation that day that the club is on top of the situation.

Happy Landings......   JRM, Club Secretary
