ON A BREEZY & COLD LAST MORNING (28th) IN FEBRUARY - THE REGULAR 2015 FEBRUARY CLUB BUSINESS MEETING WAS HELD AT THE FIELD - with the follow members attending: President ~ Ron Hargrove, Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Secretary ~ J.R. Murphy, Safety Officer ~ Larry Przyborowski, Events Host ~ Julian Pugh, and members - Jim Brooks, Joe Brett, Dick Rousseau, William Patterson, Jim Blair, Tim Bigley and guest David Pickelsimer.
1) Ron called the meeting to order and informed the attendees that the Henry County base ball season has officially begun this morning and a number of youth are on the ball diamonds adjacent to our flying field. It, therefore, behooves all HCRCC pilots to give this situation their attention and once again begin giving the southern field boundary the attention and observance it demands. Ron went into detail about our more than adequate legal flying space and the need to carefully observe the gate fence line as the southern field flight boundary.
2) Ron informed attendees that a second order for the new club tee shirt and hats with embroidered logo was now being offered and the fact that we would like to finalize this order in the next two weeks. Anyone desiring to place an order should fill out the order form and present the form with payment to any officer.
3) Ron informed attendees that the 2015 HCRCC War -Bird Meet is scheduled for April 24 & 25 and that a number of prizes will be offered this year. A $15.00 landing fee will be charged to pilots entering the meet and this fee will include their lunch. The meet will also include a raffle this year. Friday - 4/24 will be used primarily for registration and allowing visiting pilots to become familiar with the field regulations and perform some familiarization flights.
4) Safety officer Larry Przyborowski announced that the February safety letter was available now and reminded pilots that our operating guidelines/regulations are in-place for everyone’s safety during the club’s flight operations. He pointed out that we continue to have new members join the club and that everyone should be alert to introduce themselves to new members and provide assistance when needed.
5) Ron informed attendees that we have already begun the treatment of the field with lime and a pre-emergent and will be performing the grass treatment operations ourselves this year. We have a book recording the processes used, the scheduled application times, which is available to interested members.
6) Ron informed attendees that the March edition of MODEL AVIATION has a good explanation of the FAA’s Special Rule For Model Aircraft on page 154. These requirements will result in some additional action by the Club regarding the Mallard’s Landing Airport since it falls within the designated five mile limit. Also of interest to pilots is the article “Know Before You Fly Campaign” article on page 14.
7) Ron discussed the option to display a current paid membership list on the bulletin board with four columns: Name, AMA number, City of residence and for those who did not decline, their phone number. We agreed to contact via email or phone those who declined previously to see if they would allow just their phone numbers to be released to other members. Those members who filled out a 2015 membership form and declined to release their phone number will not be contacted.
Although a number of attendees brought airplanes to the field, the brisk - chilling east wind discouraged serious thought in that regard and Ron adjourned the meeting. Happy Landings...... JRM, Club Secretary
