Henry County RC Club
Safety Letter
December 2014
Rules, Regulations, Bylaws, and YOUR Safety
“Houston,,,,We have a problem!”. This
famous quote was said when the Apollo 13 astronauts had an explosion on their
spacecraft while on the way to the moon. Thankfully they were able to make
their way home, and avoided tragedy. It
was by following rules, regulations, and check lists, that allowed them to fly
their crippled ship back to earth.
And just like the astronauts, we too have
our little problems. But by following some simple rules we can continue to
enjoy the hobby we love so much.
Remember these safety rules are for everyone that fly at our field.
Sometimes we think that rules don't apply to us...it's for those other guys.
That's when suddenly you might say “Houston ...I.... have a problem!”
So here again are some simple rules for
flying at HCRCC.
Sign in on the log sheet. (It lets the county know how many folks are
using the field)
Place your AMA card on the frequency
board.
Take a radio pin. ( It lets other people know what
frequency you are on.)
Make sure that the fire extinguisher is
out. The safety cabinet should always be
unlocked when anyone is flying.
Be careful when fueling your aircraft. Try
to avoid killing the grass.
Do not start/run any electric or nitro/gas
motors under the shelters.
Do not fly any helicopter or multi rotor
craft under the shelters.
Helicopters and muti rotors are asked to
fly at the north and south areas of the field.
When other aircraft are in the pattern,
helicopters may fly over the runway if they
join in the same pattern. Stopping or
hovering over the runway when other aircraft
are in the pattern is forbidden.
Aircraft that fly 3D should also avoid hovering over
the runway when other aircraft are in
the pattern. Move your hovers to the west,
closer to the wind sock area or beyond
it.
And lastly, remember that the entrance
gate is the southern border of all flight
operations. Please do your best to
avoid flying past the southern fence line.
I know rules aren't fun. It would be
great if we had a lot less. But we must all follow these. They are for your
safety, and the safety of our visitors. Our new slogan for next year will be
“Fly smarter in 2015”.
Finally, from myself and all the officers
of HCRCC, I would like to wish all our members the warmest of Holiday Wishes.
