November meeting minutes

 

THE NOVEMBER 2014 HCRCC MEMBERSHIP MEETING WAS HELD ON NOVEMBER 29 with the follow members attending: President ~ Ron Hargrove, Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Secretary ~ J.R. Murphy, Safety officer  ~ Larry Przyborowski, Events Host  ~ Julian Pugh,  Jim Brooks, Joe Brett and Charlie Trott.   

 1)  Ron called the meeting to order and pointed out that the recent legal action taken by the NTSB regarding the FAA’S responsibility to regulate un-manned radio controlled aircraft is sure to have repercussions through AMA and felt as far down the pipeline as the HCRCC and our ability to continue to enjoy the license to fly under the AMA regulatory umbrella.     

2)  Ron pointed out that the new year will also pose additional pressures from the County with regard to the club’s ability to fly in such close proximity to the baseball diamonds and that the club’s leadership needs to be pro-active in addressing this situation with additional new guidance in this relationship.    

3)  Larry presented the December Safety publication and briefed the attendees with general safety items as well as urging pilots to fly from one of the five pilot stations thereby providing themselves with the protection of the pilot station safety fences.  He encouraged pilots to perform a thorough preflight inspection of their aircraft prior to each flight.         

4)   Jim Brooks added the suggestion that when more than one pilot is in the pattern, that aerobatic and 3-D maneuvers in close proximity to the paved runway should be avoided. 

5)  Murphy gave a financial report of the club’s budget control efforts and said that it appears that the club will close out the calendar year 2014 in the black and be able to move the balance into the savings account when final figures are available.     

6)  Ron gave a reminder of the annual Christmas party and a list of the items remaining to be finished up was given.  Attendees were reminded that the evening would include:  Door prizes for the ladies, Door prizes for pilots, The game where members bring a suitable RC wrapped gift and tickets are drawn for these gifts and each gift may be “stolen” twice during the game.  Tickets are available at the door for $10.00 for individuals and $15.00 for couples.  Arrival is suggested for 5:30 with the meal to begin at 6:00.    

7)   Election of officers was held and the 2014 slate of officers was approved for service during the 2015 year.  The four elected officers are:  President- Ron Hargrove, Vice President – Dave Mitchell,  Secretary – Jim Murphy and Treasurer – Joe Ryan. 

8)  Ron reminded attendees that the officers are in contact with the County regarding the winter bush-hog schedule and possible access road maintenance.
