It's the “Little Things” that matter
Don't we all love to get away, and just have fun. I know I do. It is still a nice thrill, to get to the flying field and know that I will be flying today, and meeting up with friends. I enjoy sharing good times and watching as everyone puts their planes into the sky.
Here are a few “Little” ideas that might make your day more fun.
Sign in....It only takes a second, and helps us to inform the county of how many people are using the field.
Place your AMA card on the board and take a frequency pin. It lets everyone know what radio band you are using.
Make sure the Fire Extinguisher is out. Although rare, fires can happen at any time.
Check out your airplane as you get ready to fly. If it's new, maybe let someone else take a look before you fly.
When you are starting your airplane, don't have any loose clothing or neck straps that can get tangled. If you see someone that might have a problem, lend a hand and let them know.
Remember to do your own check list. Did you remember to pull the antenna all the way out, if you are still using older style radios?
Did you charge your battery all the way, or did you refuel your tank?
These are just a few of the things, that we all must focus on every time we fly. Don't let fun get in the way of your focus. When we loose our focus, accidents happen.
Another item that was brought to my attention recently is that of the health conditions of some of our members. Of most concern is some of our more seasoned club members. Let some of us know if you might have serious health conditions. Everyone has some kind of health problem. It's normal. We all have our “Little” issues. Some are more “Little” than others.
We ask that everyone keep and eye out for each other. If someone doesn't look right, sit them down, and let them rest. Don't hesitate to call #911 if you feel the need. Our address is posted above the frequency board. (143 Henry Parkway)
If it's only something “Little”, we do have a medical kit in the cabinet. Use it if you need to. That's what it is there for. Just please let one of the officers know what was used, so it can be restocked.
Hope you can get out to the field soon, and have a “Little” fun.
