Henry County RC Club October 26, 2013

General Minutes

On a very cool Saturday morning, eight members of Henry County RC Flying Club gathered for the October meeting. In attendance were Victor Echevarria (pres), Ron Hargrove (vp), Larry Przyborowski (safety and acting secretary), Julian Pugh (events), Dave Mitchell, Tim Bigley, Chuck Letner, and Mr. Curtis Miller Jr.

Before the meeting was officially started it was mentioned that Dave Mitchell had rolled the new sod and seeded areas this past week. The field is looking quite nice but we could use a bit of rain.

Other grumblings related to the fact that so few members attend meetings or events. It sure would be nice if we could get a little more participation and help. Additionally we discussed the possibility of diverting some of our funds into our savings or some type of interest bearing account for long term plans. We should also continue looking into a future alternative flying field.

At 10:15 Vic started the meeting in hopes that others might show up. None did.
1.) Vic pointed out all the major improvements that have been made at HCRCC this past year, and wanted to personally thank all the members who lent a hand. Special thanks to the "Geezer" crew.

2.) At next months meeting, (11-23-2013) we will have the vote for next years officers. Anyone who has an interest in serving in any position is welcome to add his name to the ballot. Contact any officer for information.

So far those willing to serve are as follows:

Ron Hargrove  (Pres)               Andy Ripple   (Web master)
Dave Mitchell   (VP)                 Larry Przyborowski (Safety)
Jim Murphy       (Sec)               Julian Pugh     (Events)
    Joe Ryan           (Tres)

Also discussed was the setting up of a volunteer review board, to help the officers as they make decisions during the year.

3.)  Our Christmas party is scheduled for December 7th, 6PM in Glens hangar at Mallards Landing. Contact Glen at The Hobby Shop if you need directions. Meats and drinks will be provided by the club, but please bring one of your favorite side dishes for our feast

4.) Vic reminded everyone to please sign in every time you come to the field. Also ask visitors to sign in. This helps to show the county how many people are interested in our facility.  If visitors leave an e-mail, please have Andy send those links to our site, and add them to our roster. Ron H, added that he would like to see a special file so people can add pictures and info about members aircraft. In hopes that one day we could have a library of aircraft info to share with everyone.
Dave Mitchell and others said that our online member application form needs revision to add the current year to which the application applies, i.e. 2014 etc, and should be easily changed from one year to the next. The form should be user friendly for our members and for the Web Master to change from year to year.

5.) Vic discussed the upcoming budget, the improvements we've made, the plans for the coming year, the increase costs we have incurred, and future projections. Some of the items discussed were:
Lawn treatment, Porta Potty, Funds for events, General maintenance, replacing windsocks, repairing tables, fencing, ant killer, etc.
Also to be voted on next month is an increase to the annual dues from $60.00 to $75:00. This will be our break even point for the projected 2014 budget.

6.) Also discussed was the change in the bylaws regarding the need to begin our Level 1, 2, and Level 3 pilot program. For safety reasons, new members must be signed off, and given the correct sticker on their AMA cards. New aircraft need to be inspected by other members before their maiden flight. Rebuilt and repaired aircraft should also be checked. We all need to assist in this and try to keep our accident rate as low as possible.

7.) Lastly Vic mentioned that he and others have reported that they have found the gate left open when no one was present. Please, Please, Please close the gate and frequency board if you are the last to leave. It's your club, please help protect it.

                                 Respectfully submitted:     Larry Przyborowski
