Safety Letter for HCRCC October 2013

A new month, and a new runway. Well almost. If you have not been out to the flying field  receintly you won't believe the changes that have taken place.

First and foremost, our runway has been repaired. The hump/dip area was removed and the area was refilled and repaived. Then the entire runway was cleaned of debris and resealed. It should soon be repainted, with new runway strippes.

Many other changes have also been done. The field has been completely mowed/bushhogged by the county. You can easily walk down to the tree line at any side of our field. The north end overrun area has been smoothed out and will be resodded. New starting tables have been built. Two new flight stations have been added. The grass runway has been treated and been cut with our new mower and is looking fantastic. All in all, the changes are amazing.

As you are well aware of, our southern border has been moved more to the north. Our southern flight border is now the entrance gate. You will notice 4 poles with streamers to help give you some visual aid. The new flight stations were added  to help with that shift to the north. I think you will enjoy using them.  With that in mind, I hope everyone will take a short walk to the north end of the field and look to see how close we really are to the recycle center.  Try not to overfly that area. There has not been any complaints, yet, but lets try to be good neighbors, and respect thier safety too.

This October is looking to be a really great one for flying at HCRCC. We have a wonderful facility, that just keeps getting better all the time. I hope everyone enjoys it.   And please remember to watch out for everyones safety, as much as you look out for your own safety. We must all be "Safety Officers", in our work, as well as the fun times we have at Henry County RC.
