HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB JUNE, 2013 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES - June 29, 2013

On a warm Saturday morning in late June with low clouds dominating the Flying Field sky, the following members attended the regularly scheduled business meeting: President ~ Vic Echevarria, Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Sec. ~ J.R. Murphy,  Safety Officer Larry Pryzborowski, Events Coordinator Ron Hargrove,   Jim Brooks, Ricky Hambrick,  Brian Hurley and Dane Jones.
1)  Vic called the meeting to order and thanked the attendees for their presence.  He also thanked the membership for using the sign-in sheets and stated that the information contained on these sheets is used to report accurately the club’s operation to the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department in the required monthly report.
2)  Vic reviewed the following Henry County business items:    Jim Joyce reported to that the Runway repair situation is still alive and being worked by the applicable county   personnel, however, there is nothing new to report at this time.    The county’s grass cutting operation is now on an   every other Thursday schedule with the club mowing the infield and grass runway the other Thursdays.  The club   has requested permission from the County to bush hog certain areas of the flying field.  This permission was granted this week and the club officers will now manage this operation with payment from the club treasurer.  We   will try to get this job done in the next two weeks.           The club has made inquiry to the County on the possibility of getting a dumpster located in our area for the club   use.  Vic announced that the County has indicated that a small dumpster will soon arrive at the turn-around area   just outside the flying field gate for our use.  It appears that this service will be provided without cost to the club.  Vic alerted the membership to be on the lookout for any vehicles who are attempting to access the recycle area via   the flying field access road.  Such vehicle operators should be reminded that this is a violation of County operating   rules.
3)  Vic asked members to use caution when fueling airplanes to try to prevent fuel spillage in the grassy areas as this causes a quick end of the green grass in that area.
4)  Safety Officer Larry distributed the June Safety Letter and encouraged everyone to be a part of the operating Safety Program.
5)  It was again mentioned that some minor preventative maintenance was needed on the electric system at the field and Ricky Hambrick agreed to look at these repairs and make a recommendation for what action should be taken.  The officers said that they would make a list of such needs and give it to Ricky for his use.
6)  Ricky said he had a electric water cooler that he would make available to the club if the club would consider it in the best interest of the club and the County to have it installed.  Vic agreed to check with Jim Joyce about the feasibility of installing it in the center shelter for use by the membership.
7)  Vic mentioned the July Fun Fly and Bar-B-Q scheduled for the 20th and said that Ron was working on the advertising piece that would be made available via the web-site.  It was mentioned that we will try to implement a “mass sailplane launch” during this morning and the last three sailplanes to land would earn their pilots a free lunch.  A “fastest airplane” contest would also be held on this date with a free lunch offered to the winner.
8)  Vic reminded attendees that 2013 is half gone already bringing with it a reminder that items like the Christmas Party, the annual selection of the “Member of the Year” and election of officers should also be given serious thought.
Until next time,............. See you at the field.
JRM, Club Secretary
