I'd like to offer a special thank you to Mr.
Jackson for adding a fine point to my first letter. From a safety standpoint
flying by yourself really is not the best idea, and should be avoided. He gives
us a great example. If you haven't read his letter already, I urge to do
so. If anyone else has any ideas or
suggestions please feel free to submit them to myself or Andy Ripple so we can
post them on the website.
On a serious note, let’s all take a few
moments and remember that safety isn't something we worry about only when
flying. We all need to be on guard for unsafe conditions. Be aware at home, at
work, on the road while driving, and extra care at the flying field.
This month, on Saturday May 18th, our club
will host another event. “Warbirds over McDonough”. Hopefully we will have good
weather, and a great turnout. I ask all our members to be mindful of their
surroundings, as the field will be very crowded. Please keep an eye out for our
visitors, and their guests.
Help out by being a spotter. Ask visiting
pilots if they need any help. Point out the "personality" issues of
our field, and of our runway. Talk about the obstacles to avoid, and the best
way to fly our pattern. The more we help them, the greater the chances that things
go smoothly.
We can all make a good time into a Great
time, if we all stay safe, friendly, and respectful.
Lastly, Vic reminded me to let everyone know
about our first aid kit.
The club First Aid Kit is located in the
same metal container as the fire extinguisher. That container is under the
center pavilion, where the frequency pin board is located. If you use any of
the items in the kit, kindly let one of the officers know so we can keep the
kit stocked and up to date. Stay safe.
Blue skies and smooth landings
Respectfully Larry Przyborowski
