HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB JANUARY, 2013 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES - January 26, 2013

On a cool January morning, the following members attended the first regularly scheduled business meeting of the new year: President ~ Vic Echevarria, Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Sec. ~ J.R. Murphy,  Safety Officer ~ Julian Pugh, Ron Hargrove, Chuck Letner, Larry Przyobowski, Glen Gladis, Jonah Harrove, Ricky Hambrick, Brian Hurley, Mike Stout, Rick Doyle, Mel Silver, William Silver Jr. Lanawee Silver, Peter Soto and Jim Brooks.  A few of these hardy fliers brought airplanes to the meeting and took advantage of the reasonably good flying weather following the meeting.

1)  Vic called the meeting to order and mentioned that this is the very first meeting of the new year.  He reviewed the excellent Chili Cook-off and Swap Meet and commented favorably on the good turnout and great weather.
2)  Vic expressed his thanks to Dave Mitchell for making the new signage seen around the field and urged everyone to try to make sure the front gate is locked each day after flying.
3)  Vic also said that he had purchased ten new chairs and placed them in the storage shed for use when needed.
4)  Vic pointed out the fact that four of the assembly tables have been rebuilt, a shelf added and painted.  He thanked the guys who worked on this project and it was pointed out that four more tables are scheduled to be reworked in the next week or two.  Thanks to:  Dave Mitchell, Jim Brooks, Larry Przyobowski, Julian Pugh and Murphy.
5)  The club received a letter this week from a member suggesting some changes be made to the grass areas and to bush-hog the tall grass areas.  These items were discussed and current plans to work in these areas were mentioned but all required some drying out of the runoff prior to any serious work on the grass runway and the infield.  As usual this time of the year, the field is suffering from rain water-runoff resulting in soggy low areas and weed growth.  Vic will get with Henry County Parks and Recreation leadership and see if we can get some action from the County on some of these items.
6)  Vic pointed out that Julian has prepared a 2013 Calendar of events and this information will be fine tuned a bit and added to the website.
7)  Glen mentioned that the Hobby Shop will rent three extra tables at Perry this year for use by club members.  These tables will be right next to the Hobby Shop tables and available for club members to present any items they may have for sale.  He noted that the Hobby Shop staff will not watch nor be responsible for any items left on the table but would encourage members to use the tables if desired.
8)   Safely Officer Julian reminded members that he is always concerned when he sees members starting their engines without proper protection on their hands and urged members to consider using gloves, a chicken stick or an appropriate sized starter.
9)  Vic mentioned that the club now pays the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department $500.00 per year for use of the field.  This is a token fee for our use of the property, the water and electric service and the County’s mowing services.
10)  Current membership stands at 81 with an additional five folks either renewing or joining the club today.
11)  Vic mentioned that we do not have an up-to-date financial report for this date but we have approximately $10,000 in the combined accounts.

Happy Landings......   JRM, Club Secretary
