HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB OCTOBER-2012 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES

HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB OCTOBER-2012 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES – for the Regular Business Meeting held on Saturday morning ~ October 27, 2012.
The following members attended the October business meeting: President ~ Vic Echevarria,  VP ~ Jim Brooks, Sec. ~ J.R. Murphy, Safety Officer ~ Julian Pugh, Larry Przyborowski, Richard Rousseau, Dave Mitchell, Curtis Miller, Ron Hargrove, Joe Ryan, Joe Brett, Chad Sheppard, Andy Ripple and prospective new member Wendell Outlaw.
Vic called the meeting to order and recognized Julian and the members who worked to bring the Pancake Breakfast to reality.
1)     Vic called attention to the fact that once again it is time for election of officers to serve the club during the 2013 calendar year.  Ballots were passed out and attending members were given the opportunity to either vote for incumbent officers or write in a member of their choice.  The one exception is that Jim Brooks has asked to be excused from the Vice-presidents position so David Mitchell has volunteered to serve in that position.  The ballots were counted and officers for the 2013 calendar year are:  President ~ Vic Echevarria, Vice-President ~ David Mitchell, Secretary ~ Jim Murphy and Treasurer ~ E.J. Marshal.
2) Vic reminded us that it is time to firm up some decisions regarding the 2012 Christmas party.  The attending members agreed to have the party at Glen’s Hangar in Mallards Landing on Saturday evening, December 1.  They also agreed to use door prize tickets for each member for awarding RC Hobby type prizes for all attending members.  Attending ladies will also be awarded gift certificates via door prize tickets. RSVP will be required for attending members and blank slips are available in the frequency pin box at the field and will be available at the club website.  You may leave the completed RSVP form in the pin box.
3) Vic reminded attendees that renewal of 2013 club membership paperwork will include a section indicating whether the renewing member is willing to have their name, address and phone number released to other HCRCC members.
4)  Vic reminded us that nominations are also being received by any club officer for recognition of a deserving member for the “Member of the Year” award.
5) Vic reminded attendees that Andy Ripple has indicated that his present work schedule will only allow him limited time to perform the duties of “Webmaster”.  The officers will sit down with Andy and see how we can support Andy with pictures and information he needs to keep the web-site functioning.  Joe Brett has agreed to serve as point man for funneling this information to Andy in a usable form.
6) Vic reminded attendees that the 2013 AMA membership cards are in the mail and encouraged us all to read the AMA rules for RC flying that are included on the new AMA card paperwork.
7) Vic pointed out the fact that the November 2012 edition of Model Aviation (pg 6) has information about the long awaited Notice of Proposed Rule Making and gives hint of the possible reason for the extended delay when it said….. “Staff members from the UAS voiced concern regarding Congress’s approach, stating conformity with federal law requires a regulatory approach to maintaining the safety of the NAS.”
8) Julian Pugh pointed out that November 4 is the date for the time change and therefore, Saturday evening on November 17 will be the date for our first night fly.  He said he would provide additional information as that date approaches.
9)  Vic read a letter of appreciation from the Fairview Baptist Church for the club’s participation in the closing session of their summer Bible school.  A copy of this letter is under glass at the center shelter at the field.
Respectfully submitted - James R. Murphy, Club Secretary
