HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB NOVEMBER-2011 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES – Meeting held on November 26, 2011
The following members attended the regularly scheduled November business meeting: Vice-President ~ Vic Echevarria, Sec. ~ J.R. Murphy, Webmaster ~ Andy Ripple, Julian Pugh, Joe Brett, Jim Brooks, Curtis Miller, Richard Rousseau, Tripp Grissom, Gregory Wright, Lee Stimmel, Victor Diaz, Nolan Ripple, Mark Kurtz, & Juan Ruiz. A cloudy morning with a gentle south/east drift allowed for acceptable flying conditions for the good number of members who brought A/C to the field .
Vic called the meeting to order with the following items brought to the floor:
1) It was pointed out that the Geezers have, this morning, completed fabrication of the four new starting tables and they look great! Enjoy!
2) The Web page notice regarding next week’s Christmas party was called to attendee’s attention and thanks to Andy for another “slick” flier. Vic said he would be inviting Jim Joyce to the party as we continue to enjoy a favorable relationship with the County largely due to Jim’s efforts for the club.
3) With the new membership year at our fingertips, it was suggested that the club adopt a welcome letter to all those who pay their 2012 dues and “make it happen” this year. Vic and Jim agreed to get together to get this favorable practice working.
4) It was agreed that we would probably wave the December business meeting since the last Saturday of the month falls on New Year’s Eve. It was suggested that the 2012 officers get together to set the stage for the new year’s activities and they agreed to do so beginning with the planning needed for the January Chili Fly.
5) Vic announced that Victor Diaz has indicated that he would be willing to be the contest director and organize an Electric Fly Meet to be held at our field in the first quarter of 2012. Everyone seemed to support this project, so Victor was given the green light to proceed.
6) Vic mentioned that the field conditions continue to serve us well and said that the winter treatments have been applied to the grass and should be adequate until springtime. Applications of ‘ant hill treatment’ chemicals were applied today.
7) A general encouragement towards safety was given and every member was encouraged to make certain that basic safety rules were supported in our daily flight operations. Special attention was given to any persons/children/animals moving about in the aircraft starting and flight operations areas. Remember, these areas are restricted to Pilots only movement.
8) It was noted that in the December edition of Model Aviation, page 12, Rich Hanson of the Government and Regulatory Affairs office of the AMA announced that the sUAS Notice of Proposed Rule making has been further slid to Mid-February. AMA members are again urged to remain vigilant in watching this issue.
9) Vic pointed out a sensitive issue which has caused no small amount of concern by both members and guests at the field and that is the matter of members being observed carrying weapons on the flying field grounds. Vic pointed out that an acceptable practice would be to keep the weapon locked in the member’s vehicle while at the field and, therefore, not visible to others at the field. Some concern was voiced from the floor that when flying alone at the field, there is increased concern for personal safety and it was suggested that when it appears that you will be alone at the field; it is recommended that you lock the gate during that period.
The meeting was adjourned and the flight line was soon well populated with pilots and aircraft enjoying the activities.
