HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB OCTOBER-2011 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES

HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB OCTOBER-2011 BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES –                   held on October 29, 2011
The following members attended the regularly scheduled October business meeting: Vice-President ~ Vic Echevarria, Sec. ~ J.R. Murphy,  Treasurer ~ Joe Ryan, Safety Officer ~ Dave Sweet, Julian Pugh, Charles Trott, Joe Brett, Jim Brooks, Richard Rousseau, Larry Przyborowski, Ron Hargrove, Jay Andrews, Tripp Grissom, E. J. Marshal, Lee Stimmel, Tim Bigley and Bill Powell. Following the arrival of a cool front, a fresh breeze from the north kept flying activities to a minimum.
Vic called the meeting to order promptly at 10:00 with the following items brought to the floor:
1)      Vic asked about the Calling Post notification used for this meeting and all but two acknowledged receiving the notice.
2)     Vic welcomed Joe Brett back from his recent trip to Oregon to visit his Mother.
3)     Vic mentioned the need to make certain that each member properly closes and locks the field access gate, the frequency pin box and the fire extinguisher box when exiting the field as the last one out.  He also mentioned the need to remind those remaining if they are likely to be the last ones to leave for the day.
4)     Vic reminded the attendees that the present officers have done a great job of caring for the field this year and that, following the County mowing the field and a nice rain, he had applied a winter fertilizer to prepare the grass for the winter months.  He mentioned that the club mower is in the storage building and available for mowing the grass.
5)     Vic mentioned two articles in the November edition of Model Aviation magazine that are of particular interest to our flyers.  The first was an article on page 12 regarding the FAA Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and said that the first release of this information is scheduled for mid-December.   The article urges AMA membership to remain alert for this information and the possible need to respond to Washington, DC folks if necessary.  The second was an article by Greg Hahn on page 161 regarding use of 2.4 GHz equipment. For those using 2.4 equipment or considering purchasing it, this is a must read.
6)     Vic mentioned that Mike Lashley is recuperating well from his second back surgery and was at the field earlier this week.  Vic also mentioned that Mike was at work Friday of the week for the first time.
7)     Vic mentioned that the 2011 HCRCC Christmas party is scheduled for Saturday evening, December 3rd, 7:30 at Glen’s hangar.  The evening will include another White Elephant RC Item gift exchange where all the pilots bring some item used for RC flying.  This went over quite well last year and is always lots of fun.  The wrapped gift does not have to be new, but needs to be in the $25.00 range.  (You know, something you would be pleased to go home with.)  Gift cards for the ladies will once again be a door prize item. Remember to bring a lawn chair that you would be comfortable sitting in to both eat and enjoy the evening.
8)     A new wind sock was installed by Dave Sweet and a few good men.  Dave frequently authors something good for the club.
9)     The four well weathered aircraft starting tables are in process of being replaced currently by Geezer power using club funds.  The cost will be approximately $50.00 each.   One of the four will be enlarged to accommodate larger and multi-engine aircraft.  Following this, we will begin work on refinishing the assembly tables.
10)  Speaking of tables, this morning, Tripp Grissom brought to the field a very sturdy 4 X 8 table     (on wheels) for our use.  It has a weather & fuel proof synthetic sheet top which we will consider for our use on the tables left outside in the elements.
11) It was mentioned from the floor that we have had some inquiry regarding the possibility of creating a U-Control flying circle on the flying field.  It was agreed that if there was sufficient interest to warrant development, we would approach the County P & R folks for making this happen.
12)Joe Ryan provided financial information for the meeting with the following items:
    Checking Account                        ~                              $1,760.03
    Savings Account                           ~                              $3,083.37
    Pay Pal                                             ~                              $3,633.96
    Total Funds                                    ~                              $8,477.36
13) Election of officers was held for the calendar year 2012 with the following officers elected:
President                            ~                              Vic Echevarria
Vice President                    ~                              Jim Brooks

The Meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted
