The officers of the Henry County Radio Control Club met in executive session on Saturday, July 16. One of the agenda items for that meeting dealt with the election of officers for the 2012 calendar year.
President Mike Lashley announced that he would be having back surgery in August and said that his present work schedule would require that he continue to work weekends for another year and, therefore, he did not feel that he could serve another year as president.
Safety officer Dave Sweet announced that his family would require enough more of his personal time that he could not serve another year as Safety officer and Events Coordinator.
Therefore, it was agreed that to provide a functional slate of officers for the new year, we need to begin now to inform members and seek their participation in selecting the best members to service the club during 2012.
NOTE: This notice does not mean that the other current officers are not willing to serve for another year, but it was felt that the membership should have the option to elect a fresh slate of officers and, if so desired, move the club in a different direction. For instance, Vic Echevarria currently serves as Vice President and, with help from the Geezer Flight, was willing to allow this office to include responsibility for field maintenance. Vic is in close contact with the Henry County Parks and Recreation personnel who explained that due to recent budget cuts they can no longer be depended upon to mow the field. Vic has been responsible for keeping the field looking good and has indicated that he is willing to consider serving in this position for another year. However, if the club desires to move in a different direction, a new slate of officers would be prudent.
Therefore, the present officers are seeking nominations for calendar year 2012 officers via this notice and would ask that this selection process take one of these two forms:
1) Any member may nominate any other member for one of the officer positions,
2) Any present member may volunteer his name for consideration for one of the club officer positions.
The club officer positions being considered are:
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Safety Officer.
Nominations are now in order for all five of these positions and members may respond to this notice via email to any of the officers listed below:
