Field update 1-5-2011

Sent by Jim Murphy

Just a note to keep you up to date on field maintenance.  Vic and I returned to the field this morning and used the club's new 48 inch roller to finish smoothing out the imperfections in the grass runway.  It went quite well and due to the softness of the runway, we only filled the roller to approximately 5/8ths capacity.

We rolled the grass runway and the over-runs on each end as well as the grass directly against the east side of the  paved runway.

We plan to roll these areas again just as soon as the runway dries out a bit as it is quite soft due to being water-logged.

Pilots flying heavier aircraft should use caution until the runway dries out as it is definitely a consideration upon  landings.

Renewal efforts for the 2011 year are going well and will, no doubt, experience a jump with the upcoming Chili Fly.  Vic and I could have used a good hot bowl of Chili this morning, but could not find any such thing.
Bring your 2011 AMA card with you to the Chili Fly as you will be able to laminate it with club sticker while you are there.

We also emptied the trash cans in preparation for the Chili Fly's activities.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Chili Fly.
