HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB JULY, 2010 ~ BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 01, 2010

HENRY COUNTY RC CLUB JULY, 2010 ~ BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES - July 31 On a very warm Saturday morning in July the following members attended the July business meeting:
President, Mike Lashley, VP Vic Echevarria, Sec. J.R. Murphy, Treasurer Joe Ryan, Safety Officer, Dave Sweet, WebMaster - Andy Ripple, Nolan Ripple, Ron Hargrove, Tripp Grissom, Julian Pugh, John Miller, Winston Price, Jay Andrews, Joe Brett, and Jim Brooks.
Mike called the meeting to order and the following items were brought to the attention of the attendees:
1) This week the Henry County Recreation Department informed Vic that the County’s grass mowing crew would not be able to mow the field due to a large special assignment given to them. Therefore, Vic and Jim mowed the field early this morning since the grass level was much too high to allow smaller airplanes to function. Vic will try to establish some more effective communication with the mowing supervisory in an effort to keep the grass mowing more in keeping with good operations at the field.
2) The Port-O-Potty provided by Henry County Recreation Department was removed on July 30.
3) It was mentioned that the members who staffed the Nash Farms 4th of July celebration Jim Brooks, Joe Brett and Jim Murphy represented the club well and made a lot of good contacts. They sold all the balsa gliders and handed out a good number of the printed information provided.
4) A question was raised from the floor about the 2010 Christmas party and Mike was authorized to contactthe management of the Nash Farm facility to see if a date in early December would be possible. Early plans called for a pot luck dinner type meal with meat provided by the club. It was agreed that the “Christmas Party Game” wherein everyone brings a “RC Hobby type wrapped gift” and gets a ticket. The tickets are drawn and that person gets to either select a new gift or “steal” a previously opened gift from the holder. (Limit two thefts per gift)
5) A question was raised from the floor about the present membership level and the answer given was “presently we have 92 members”.
6) A motion was made from the floor that the club seriously consider raising the 2011 dues from $60.00 per year to $75.00. It was generally agreed that the $60.00 dues level did not provide the necessary funds to support and develop the field but everyone feared that raising the dues might prevent some current members from joining next year. It was agreed that the officers would provide some sort of 2011 dues structure that would still allow those who are financially pressed to continue their current dues schedule of $60.00. However, in an effort to provide funds for needed projects a tiered dues schedule would be developed that would be similar to the following:
Gold Level Membership $100.00 - Silver Level Membership $ 75.00 - Regular Membership $ 60.00
It was felt that this would allow the protection needed for some while encouraging raising additional funds for field development.
7) Vic gave a report on the professional care of the grass runway and informed us that significant equipment would be in use on the field this Friday, therefore, flying would not be allowed while the field maintenance was being performed.
8) Mike informed the membership that an AMA member from Montana was going to be visiting his family members nearby next month and would like to bring some RC airplanes to show his family and demonstrate their flying abilities. We agreed that this was a good idea but that a “host member” would be required to make sure everything was done in harmony with club rules.
9) Andy said that he is in the preliminary stages of introducing another “Foamie build” and asked how many of the attendees would be interested and a good percentage indicated interest. Watch the Web site for more information.
The meeting was adjourned by Mike Lashley.

Respectfully submitted, - James R. Murphy, Club Secretary
